With 17,000 people coming through our building on a typical day, joining our team really does mean joining a fast-moving organisation. We operate in the heart of Leeds University campus, home to 30,000 students at the University of Leeds.
All our people are working towards the same purpose – ensuring our student members Love their time at Leeds. We want to make sure our staff love LUU too and are delighted to report that in 2012 we were listed 17th in the Sunday Times Top 100 Not For Profit Organisations to Work For in the UK.
There are around 550 people working together at LUU to bring services and support to our student members. Most of our roles are held by students who work during University term time across all areas of LUU (mainly in our Bars, Venues and Retail teams.) Our Student Staff are helped by around 150 others who manage all our services and work in support roles such as HR, Marketing, and Finance ensuring LUU runs smoothly all year round
LUU is led by six Officers – the Student Executive – who are Students at the University of Leeds. The Officer positions are hotly contested each year in LUU’s very own Leadership Race.
Our five strong Senior Leadership Team work with the Student Executive to support the organisation and lead the staff.
LUU is a Registered Charity and works in close partnership with the University of Leeds.
In addition to the Officers, we also have a Board of Trustees made up of the Student Executive and a number of other interested individuals. The Board scrutinise what we do, how we do it and what it costs to make sure we are always acting in the organisation’s best interests.
LUU offers students a range of services to support their life at University. These include
